Bring your family down to 50 East Congress Parkway for a FREE afternoon at the Auditorium Theatre! Whether you’re an aspiring performer, budding architect, young makeup artist, dance-critic-in-training, or just want to learn how we “Make the Magic” of a full scale professional performance, you will want to join us on Sunday November 13th and experience Chicago’s Landmark Theatre up close and personal!
The Making the Magic Family Fun Day experience will allow family members of all ages to explore the various aspect of professional performance! Choose your stage name and start your training as you participate in dance classes, interactive music activities, and theatre workshops for all ages and experience levels. Try your hand at creating an advertisement for an upcoming show or critiquing a dance performance. Explore the architecture of this historic landmark theatre with a self-guided tour, and then put your drawing and drafting skills to work as you visually recreate your favorite aspect of the theatre. Learn about the behind the scenes aspects that come together for a spectacular performance – from makeup and costumes, to lights and sound. Even test your dramaturgical knowledge with fun interactive games packed with facts from Auditorium’s Broadway and Rock-n-Roll history! Finally, ensure your team is ready for opening night by successfully completing the Stage Manager’s Checklist Scavenger Hunt before stepping onto our Historic Landmark Stage!
Now is the time to start making YOUR family’s Auditorium Theatre memories! All activities are appropriate for kids and kids-at-heart, and are absolutely FREE. (Pay What You Can donations at the door are encouraged to ensure we are able to continue bringing this fun event to families each year!) We’ll see you at the theater!
