Community colleges play an important role in boosting the education and job readiness of the workforce. “In an economy where jobs requiring at least an associate’s degree are projected to grow twice as fast as jobs requiring no college experience, it’s never been more essential to continue education and training after high school,” said President Barack Obama. “Our community colleges can serve as 21st century job training centers working with local businesses to help workers learn the skills they need to fill the jobs of the future.” Locally, Kankakee Community College offers programs to meet community needs. “Our mission is to be an avenue where people can turn for solutions,” said KCC’s president, Dr. John Avendano.  “Our students and graduates often find better paying jobs, and they contribute more to our local economy as residents and consumers.” KCC offers the first two years of a bachelor’s degree, which saves students thousands of dollars. In all, the college has more than 55 options, including transfer and occupational programs. Students also may choose a course or two to update skills or satisfy personal interests. One night a week could change your life. Make a positive change in your life - whether it's to qualify for more jobs, fulfill a dream or be an example to your kids. These changes are possible when you earn a bachelor’s in business or teaching certificate at Trinity Christian College. Trinity’s accelerated Adult Studies programs are designed exclusively for adults. When you apply your previous college credits or degree, you can complete your business degree or earn your elementary, secondary or special ed teaching certificate in two years.  All this while attending class just one night a week! All programs are offered at Trinity's main campus in Palos Heights (6601 W. College St.). Trinity’s teaching certification program is also offered in Addison (301 S. Swift Rd.) and in Chicago (1550 S. State St.). All locations have on-site parking and the South Loop Chicago location also has nearby public transportation. Trinity’s affordable tuition includes the cost of all books and financial aid is available to those who qualify. Additionally, business program students receive a laptop computer, which they keep upon graduation. Classes begin in January.  Visit adultstudies.trnty.edu or call 708-239-4768 to speak with a representative about Trinity’s accelerated programs or to register for an October information night.
